Welcome to the 2021 Carver Early College Summer Bridge Program - Online!  As part of Carver's "Rethinking Equity Series," this summer you will have the opportunity to engage with college-level reading and writing activities designed to build your college and career readiness skills.  Our theme this summer will be: "The Fluidy of Racial Identify."  Through discussions with college professors from The College of New Jersey, Stockton University, or Salem Community College, you will not only increase your academic performance but will also build the necessary social-emotional skills needed to be a proficient Early College student.  You will take two classes this summer:  (1) Book Study Class and (2) Gateway Early College Prep Class.  The Book Study Class is designed to keep you engaged in reading over the summer while strengthening your writing skills.  Students in grades 9-12, will read "Passing" by Nella Larson (click here for a YouTube video to learn more), and students in middle school will read "All American Boys" by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely (click here to watch a YouTube video about this book).  In the Gateway Early College Prep Class, you will engage in advisory activities that build self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible-decision making using Carver's Gateway-to-Success resources.  In closing, all summer bridge programs will provide Early College students with an enriched summer experience that will ultimately build college & career readiness skills and prepare each of you for college-level coursework while in high school.  Let's Begin!
