Welcome to the 2021 Carver Early College Summer Bridge Program - Online! As part of Carver's "Rethinking Equity Series," this summer we are engaging all enrolled early college students in the Standards of College & Career Readiness that will introduce each student to the level of expectation in reading & writing. Our summer bridge program will foster not only academic growth and learning loss, but will also build students' social-emotional learning competencies. There will be two classes offered this summer: (1) Book Study Class and (2) Gateway Early College Prep Class. The Book Study Class is designed to keep students engaged in reading over the summer while strengthening their writing skills. Students in grades 9-12, will read "Passing" by Nella Larson (click here for a YouTube student review), and students in middle school will read "All American Boys" by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely (click here for YouTube Expose). Students will also engage in advisory activities that build self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship skills, and responsible-decision making using Carver's Gateway-to-Success resources. In partnership with college professors from The College of New Jersey, Stockton University, and Salem Community College, all summer bridge programs will provide Early College students with an enriched summer experience that will ultimately build college & career readiness skills and prepare each student for college-level coursework while in high school.
